Sher Takahashi

After graduating from PHHS, I graduated from Diablo Junior College with an AA degree, with honors. After that, I put in 4 years in the U.S. Marines. I was honorably discharged as an E-6 Staff Sargent after 1 tour in Viet Nam. I managed Stan's for Sports SCUBA Schools for 5 years and managed an Oshmann's Sporting Goods Store for 3 years. I then owned my own SCUBA School (Sand, Wind & Sea) for 6 years; teaching and taking diving tours to places like the South Pacific, the Red Sea, Hawaii, Caribbean Islands and Mexico. I retired in September 2013 from the Department of the Navy with 35 years of civil service.

After 2 failed (learning) marriages, I met and married Barbara Webster Grider eleven years ago. Together we have 4 children, Barbara's two daughters (Erica & Katie), and my son and daughter (Justin & Meghan). They are all married, so we now have 8 adult kids (including their spouses). We currently have 12 wonderful grandchildren. In our retirement we have traveled to Australia, Hawaii, Pennsylvania, Sanibel Island, FLA and Japan. Also cruised the Mexican Riviera.

Barbara and I are happily married (17 years), and I am trying to learn how to relax in retirement. I am serving as the Singles Pastor at Skyline Church in La Mesa, California.

I remember my English teacher, Miss French. She was new to PH, one of the youngest and prettiest teachers at our school. I kind of had a crush on her, but I'm pretty sure Mike Massone (sp?) was in love with her. He brought her flowers one time after recess. She was kind-hearted and loved all of her students.

I also remember getting up at 6am to run hills for X-country. Hoping to see Coach McGuire at the reunion.
